Editorial Policy & Standards
Sargodha Guide Online publishes verified civic, government, education, and utility information for citizens of Sargodha District, Punjab, Pakistan. This policy explains how we research, write, review, and correct the information you read on our website.
Last reviewed:
Citizens of Sargodha repeatedly told us the same thing: government office hours, fees, document requirements, and FESCO load-shedding schedules are scattered across dozens of poorly-maintained PDFs, expired notices on Facebook pages, and unverifiable WhatsApp forwards. People waste full working days at the wrong counter because the information they had was wrong or out of date.
Our mission is to be the single, accurate, plain-English (and where useful, plain-Urdu) reference for everything a Sargodha resident needs to deal with their local government, utilities, and educational institutions. Every page is meant to save a citizen one real trip, one real phone call, or one real rupee.
1. How We Source Information
We treat civic information with the same care a newspaper of record would. For every page on this website we draw from primary sources first, and clearly secondary sources second:
- Primary sources (preferred):Official websites of the Government of Punjab (punjab.gov.pk), Khidmat Markaz Sargodha, FESCO (fesco.com.pk), NADRA (nadra.gov.pk), Directorate General Immigration & Passports (dgip.gov.pk), Punjab Land Records Authority, the District Coordination Office Sargodha, and the official University of Sargodha portal.
- Direct verification: Phone calls to listed government office helplines (FESCO 118, Rescue 1122, Police 15, Punjab Citizen Portal 1100), and on-the-ground visits to verify office hours, location, and posted notices.
- Verified secondary sources: Reporting from established Pakistani publications (Dawn, The News, Express Tribune, Geo News), gazette notifications, and statutory regulatory orders (SROs) published by the Government of Pakistan.
- What we do not use: Anonymous WhatsApp forwards, Facebook screenshots without source links, AI-generated text without human review, scraped low-quality websites, or any source we cannot independently verify.
2. How Our Content Is Written and Reviewed
Every guide on this website goes through a four-stage workflow before it is published:
- Research. A staff researcher gathers the official fee, document, and procedure list from primary sources, and cross-checks it against at least one independent secondary source.
- Drafting. A staff writer turns the research into a step-by-step guide. We write in plain language, use the second person ("you bring two photocopies"), and we never pad articles to game search rankings. If a topic genuinely needs only 400 words, we write 400 words.
- Editorial review. A second editor reads the draft for factual accuracy, logical order of steps, completeness of fees and timelines, and tone. Any number, address, or phone in the draft must be linked to a source the editor can confirm.
- Verification call or visit. For guides about a specific government office (Khidmat Markaz, NADRA Mega Centre, FESCO sub-division offices, mandi offices, university registrar), we make a verification phone call before publishing. If we cannot reach the office or details conflict with our research, we hold the article and disclose this on the page.
3. Editorial Independence
Sargodha Guide Online is privately funded and editorially independent. We are not owned by, operated by, or politically affiliated with any government department, political party, FESCO, NADRA, the University of Sargodha, or any commercial electricity contractor.
We run advertising via Google AdSense to cover hosting and editorial costs, and we clearly label all advertising. Advertisers have no influence on our editorial decisions, what we cover, or what we say about a service.
If a guide ever recommends a paid service or links to a partner, the disclosure will appear at the top of that page. We do not currently have any paid partnerships.
4. Use of AI Tools
We use AI tools (such as language models and grammar checkers) the way a newspaper uses a sub-editor: to help structure paragraphs, suggest clearer wording, and catch typos. We do not publish AI-generated text without human research, human writing, and human verification of every fact, fee, and contact number.
No page on Sargodha Guide Online is autogenerated. Every page on this website was written by a human editor based on verified sources, even when an AI tool helped with drafting or formatting.
5. Corrections Policy
Government fees change. Office hours change. Helpline numbers change. We take this seriously. Our standing commitment to readers is:
- We respond to every credible correction request within 2 business days.
- If a published page contains a factual error (wrong fee, wrong address, wrong helpline, wrong document requirement), we fix it within 24 hours of confirming the error.
- Material corrections (fees, document lists, helpline numbers) include a dated correction note at the bottom of the affected page so readers can see what changed and when.
- Minor corrections (typos, broken links, formatting) are made silently.
- Every guide page also displays a Last reviewed date so readers know how fresh the information is.
6. Sensitive Topics & What We Do Not Cover
Sargodha Guide Online is a civic-information website. We deliberately do not cover:
- Active electoral campaigning or party politics.
- Religious rulings, fatwas, or sectarian commentary.
- Personal disputes, FIR allegations, or anything that could identify a private individual without their consent.
- Medical, legal, or financial advice that should come from a licensed professional. We will tell you which office handles a process; we will not tell you what your case will result in.
- Hate speech, harassment, defamation, or any content that violates Pakistani law (PECA 2016) or Google publisher policies.
