Sargodha Tehsil

Sargodha City Tehsil serves as the administrative and commercial heart of Sargodha District, functioning as the divisional headquarters for the Sargodha Division of Punjab, Pakistan. Established as a cantonment town during British colonial rule in 1903, Sargodha has transformed into a thriving urban center that balances its rich agricultural heritage with modern civic infrastructure and educational excellence.

The tehsil is renowned globally as the "Citrus Capital of Pakistan," producing over 98% of the country's premium Kinnow mandarin oranges. This agricultural dominance has shaped the local economy, supporting thousands of farming families, fruit commission agents, and export businesses. The annual Kinnow season from December through March brings significant economic activity, with the Fruit and Vegetable Market (Sabzi Mandi) processing millions of tons of citrus for domestic consumption and international export to markets in Russia, Indonesia, and the Middle East.

Beyond agriculture, Sargodha City hosts the Pakistan Air Force's largest operational base, PAF Base Mushaf, which has been instrumental in the city's development and strategic importance. The presence of the University of Sargodha, established in 2002 and now ranked among Pakistan's top twenty universities, has created a vibrant academic ecosystem with over 40,000 enrolled students across multiple campuses.

The Municipal Corporation of Sargodha oversees urban planning, waste management, water supply, and public infrastructure maintenance across the city tehsil.
